The silence is the worst part

Most emails never get an answer at all. You start refreshing your inbox like it owes you money. I know I'm not alone in this: everyone at our co-working sessions nods when I mention it.

What helps me

I time-box it now. Email twice a day, fifteen minutes, then it closes. The rest of the day belongs to things that move me forward: improving one application, one conversation, one walk.

An empty inbox doesn't mean you're failing. It means the system is slow, and you're still here. That counts for more than you think.
